Energie Fitness multi-site franchise duo celebrate the opening of their fifth gym

Energie Fitness officially opened the doors to its newest club in Ireland in April, with the launch of Energie Fitness Salthill bringing a community-focused fitness experience to one of the country's most known coastal destinations. Situated on the Promenade in the heart of Salthill, the new club marks another exciting milestone in the continued growth of the Energie Fitness brand across Ireland. Combining a prime town-centre location with a thoughtfully designed training environment, the club is set to become a key health and wellbeing hub for the local community. 

Located beneath one of Salthill's busiest commercial areas, the club has been transformed into a modern fitness facility designed to support members at every stage of their fitness journey. The carefully considered layout, premium equipment offering, and welcoming atmosphere reflect Energie Fitness' commitment to creating accessible spaces where everyone feels comfortable training. 

The opening is also a significant achievement for franchisees Rory O'Shaughnessy and Harry McCreery, who now celebrate their fifth Irish club opening together within the Energie Fitness network. Their continued expansion highlights their long-term vision and the scalability of the Energie Fitness franchise model. For both, Salthill is about creating a facility that sits at the heart of the local community and provides members with an environment where they can train, connect, and improve their wellbeing. 

Speaking about the opening, Cillian, Business Development Manager for Energie Fitness' Irish clubs, highlighted the importance of the club's location and its role within the local area. "Salthill is one of the most recognisable locations in Ireland, and having a club positioned right on the Promenade places us at the centre of a thriving local community. The location is fantastic, with the gym sitting in the heart of the town centre and easily accessible to local residents, workers, and visitors alike." 

The club has been designed to cater for a wide variety of training styles and fitness goals, offering dedicated areas for cardio, strength training, and functional fitness. Rather than simply filling the space with equipment, every area has been carefully positioned to create a smooth and intuitive member experience. 

A key partner in bringing the vision to life was BH Fitness, Spanish-based premium gym equipment manufacturer, who worked closely with Rory and the Energie Fitness team throughout the project. From equipment selection and gym design through to final installation, the collaboration played a major role in shaping the finished facility. Speaking about the partnership, Lorena Martin Benzal, Export Area Manager at the BH Fitness team explained: "Having worked with different gym chains globally, Energie Fitness has always been a key partner we wanted to work with. Once we connected, it was clear the values and vision aligned well, making it a natural collaboration." She added: "When we met with the Energie Fitness Salthill franchisee, we felt it was a perfect match. Rory has strong entrepreneurial experience and a solid background in the fitness industry." 

As BH Fitness' first full-gym installation in Ireland, the Energie Fitness Salthill project held particular significance for the team. Adrian Carrion Arranz, Product Manager at BH Fitness said: "Salthill was our first club in Ireland, so we positioned it as a premium project. We installed our top-tier cardio machines featuring advanced multimedia monitors alongside our premium strength range. The focus was on delivering the very best in terms of technology, performance, and user experience." That premium approach can be seen throughout the gym, which features a carefully curated mix of equipment designed to support both beginners and experienced gym-goers alike. 

The equipment layout was developed collaboratively between BH Fitness, Rory, and the Energie Fitness team to ensure the space functioned as effectively as possible for members. Lorena stated: "The layout was designed to support clear zoning. Cardio equipment was placed near the entrance, strength equipment sits within the central area, and a dedicated functional training zone was integrated into the overall flow. The aim was to create an organic space where training areas feel natural and connected rather than forced or segmented."  

That member-first approach reflects one of the biggest priorities within modern gym design: creating environments that feel intuitive, welcoming, and easy to navigate. The BH Fitness team believes that is one of the defining characteristics of the Salthill facility. Lorena continued: “The space feels organic and well thought out. Everything has a clear purpose and flows naturally. It creates a sense of community and familiarity, where members feel comfortable and connected. It's not just a place to train - it feels like a space where people belong." 

The project also reflects wider trends currently shaping the fitness industry, with operators increasingly focused on combining high-quality equipment with smart technology and data-driven member experience. As Adrian explained: "The market is moving into a more mature phase, and the biggest focus now is technology and data. Members increasingly expect connected fitness experiences, while operators are looking for better insights into equipment usage and member behaviour. The industry continues to evolve, and facilities need to evolve alongside it."
